Designed by a French army infantry officer (former head of training in CENZUB, urban area training center), Urban Operations was first imagined as a serious game for training soldiers. It therefore has to be simple, easy to implement, and realistic.

Urban Operations puts the player at the head of a combined-arms company team of a hundred men engaged in urban combat. All the critical dimensions of modern combat are simulated: Combined arms command, casualty evacuation, supply chain, fratricide, collateral damage, breaching actions, presence of civilian population, underground combat, IEDs…

Urban Operations is a block game. All opposing forces are hidden. Recognition and spotting become an absolute necessity to pierce the fog of war. Each block represents a dozen infantry, engineers, scouts, a sniper team, medics, artillery observers, command, or a tank, a transport, or another kind of vehicle. Third-dimension support (close air support, artillery, smoke, drones, reconnaissance), and the events affecting the course of the battle are represented by playing cards.

Present and future warfare is conducted in the treacherous, uncertain urban environment. Urban Operations allows a professional audience or wargamers to play as unit commanders, immersing themselves in the chaotic heart of street fighting.

3 Campaigns – 16 scenarios

Sixteen scenarios, playable independently, or in two campaigns, simulate urban operations in all of their diversity: planned assaults, armored raids, guerrilla ambushes, reconnaissance, shows of force, hostage rescue, night combat, infiltration by underground network, bridge crossings… Nearly a dozen different armies are represented with their own materials and doctrines, in ever sort of situation from asymmetrical warfare to high-intensity combat.
